CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY


AV rated law firm Dempsey, Roberts & Smith (DRS) located in Henderson, NV seeks to hire a full-time Criminal Defense Attorney to represent clients in criminal proceedings and, also, assist with the firm’s personal injury cases. A candidate’s qualifications include an ability to effectively communicate with clients, manage cases, craft case strategies, draft motions, and capably represent clients at court hearings including arraignments, preliminary hearings, and trials. Assisting with personal injury cases by interacting with insurance adjusters, drafting demands, and litigation documents affords a varied practice experience. 

DRS encourages a healthy work-life balance. This attorney position has reasonable billing requirements, includes paid holidays and time off, and does not involve regular weekend work. Dempsey Roberts offers a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k with employer match, and sick and vacation pay. Salary dependent on experience. Responsibilities

  • Advising clients about their legal rights in criminal defense matters, legal options, and best strategies
  • Attending arraignments and pretrial hearings on behalf of clients
  • Assessing and forming strategies for personal injury matters
  • Drafting demands to insurance carriers and personal injury litigation documents
  • Managing court appearances, drafting motions, and performing legal research
  • Preparing clients for court appearances and depositions
  • Analyzing probable case outcomes using knowledge of legal precedents
  • Communicating with clients, witnesses, and prosecuting attorneys
  • Interviewing witnesses and gathering information from experts to support clients’ positions
  • Providing legal analysis for clients to determine possible case benefits

Qualifications

  • Admission to the Nevada bar
  • Demonstrated interest in criminal defense law from prior work experience, law school clinics, internships, or volunteer work
  • Willingness to assist with personal injury matters
  • A team player interested and able to work in the law firm environment
  • Ability to manage client expectations and assist clients in stressful criminal cases
  • Ability to manage a caseload and case-related time management
